Abstract

Purpose: The objective of this study was to understand the meaning of experience on community-Based Learning of Nursing Students.

Methods: This is qualitative research using focus groups. Data were collected through in-depth interviews from October, 2011 to December. The focus group interviews were conducted to 10 nursing students on their subjective experiences. Data were analysed with the phenomenological method proposed by Colazzi(1978).

Results: From significant statements, 5 theme clusters, 11 themes and 27 sub-themes were integrated into the essential meaning of the Community-Based Learning of Nursing Students. Five theme-clusters were identified from eleven themes and twenty seven sub-themes. The Five theme-clusters were 1)New challenges 2)Lifelike 3)Worthwhile 4)Promotion of community spirit 5)Laboriousness

Conclusions: Through a interaction with community and self regulated learning in community-based learning, the nursing students may have the feeling of worthiness, new awareness of community, and visions for the future as nurse. The result of this study would contribute for develop the effective teaching and learning techniques.
